2-Day Winter Adventure in Lapland’s Arctic Wilderness
Your journey begins at Jeris Lakeside Resort, where you’ll set off on an exciting snowmobile tour through the snowy landscapes of Lapland. After a safety briefing, you’ll drive along scenic routes through forests, over hills, and across frozen lakes and swamps. The four-hour snowmobile ride offers plenty of opportunities to take in the beauty of the Arctic wilderness. Halfway through the day, you’ll stop for a satisfying lunch at Torassieppi Eco Reindeer Resort before continuing your adventure.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at your wilderness accommodation at Vuontisjärvi, surrounded by the peaceful and unspoiled nature of Lapland. Once there, you’ll have the chance to try your hand at ice fishing and learn the traditional techniques of net fishing under the ice. Any fish you catch is yours to keep. After a day outdoors, relax in a traditional wood-heated Finnish sauna by the lake. For the full experience, take a refreshing dip into the frozen lake through a hole cut in the ice. Your day concludes with an exclusive evening meal in a cozy Lappish hut, featuring a menu inspired by authentic Lappish ingredients and flavors. Accommodation includes sleeping bags and liners for a comfortable night’s rest, as well as all meals to keep you fueled for your Arctic adventure.
The second day starts with a hearty breakfast before continuing your snowmobile adventure back to Torassieppi Eco Reindeer Resort. After another delicious lunch, you’ll choose between two iconic Arctic experiences. Opt for the Husky Tour de Torassieppi, where a team of eager huskies will pull you through snowy forests and open swamps. You’ll drive a shared sled, swapping drivers halfway to enjoy the full experience of being a musher. Alternatively, take part in the Local Reindeer Experience, which includes a visit to a 200-year-old Lappish farmhouse and reindeer museum. You can test your reindeer herding skills with a suopunki, the traditional Lappish lasso, and enjoy a tranquil 3-kilometer sleigh ride through the forest.
Your Arctic adventure concludes at Jeris Lakeside Resort with a visit to Arctic Sauna World. Relax in four uniquely themed saunas and take a refreshing plunge into the icy waters of Lake Jerisjärvi. This blend of thrilling activities, cultural experiences, and relaxation creates an unforgettable introduction to the magic of Lapland.
