Details about the Water

Right outside the door lies Lake Oravivesi, which is part of the larger Haukivesi fishing area, covering an impressive 51,500 hectares. Oravivesi typically has a depth of 2–3 meters, with some spots reaching up to 6 meters. The lake is dotted with small islands and features numerous shallow waters and reed areas. Its bottom is rocky, and the water has a distinctive brownish, almost reddish hue. Through a small channel, you can reach Haukivesi in just a few minutes. Haukivesi The Haukivesi fishing area is located at a junction of the headwaters of the Vuoksi river basin, encompassing the waters between Varkaus and Savonlinna. The region spans approximately 51,500 hectares and is characterized by numerous rugged islands and peninsulas that break up the landscape. Haukivesi showcases Finnish lake scenery at its finest. A highlight of the area is Linnansaari National Park, located in the central region of the lake. Visitors can experience pristine, untouched nature and observe the daily activities of wildlife such as ospreys and Saimaa ringed seals. While some fishing restrictions apply to protect the seals, the area remains equally welcoming to both anglers and the wildlife itself.
