Private Family Fishing trip in Linnansaari National Park

Fishing Activity in Oravi, South Savo

On this family friendly fishing trip we head to the labyrinths of Linnansaari. We'll spend the day enjoying fishing from the boat and from the shore by hook-and-line and spinning. When the weather is good we stop on one of the area’s sandy beaches and go swimming. During the trip we will enjoy some snacks.

Fishing method: spinning and angling.
Boat: Fishing boat accessible Faster CAT. Boat is fully equipped for fishing. Life jackets and rain gear are always included.

Starting place Oravi harbour. If you are staying at one of our villas in Oravi, we'll pick you up directly from your villa.

Getting to Oravi by Public Transport By Bus Take a bus to Savonlinna. On school days, there is a local bus connection between Savonlinna and Oravi: https://opas.matka.fi By Train The nearest train stations are in Savonlinna, about 42 km from Oravi. There are two stops: Pääskylahti (east side of the city) and the Market Square stop (city center). From the train, you can continue to Oravi by safari bus, local bus, or taxi. Note: All trains arrive via Parikkala. Train schedules and tickets: VR.fi By Air Savonlinna Airport is about 35 km from Oravi. Flights from Helsinki to Savonlinna are available. Flight schedules and ticket booking: Finavia.fi By Taxi Oravi – Savonlinna (max 4 people): starting from €90/car/one way Shuttle Service / Safari Bus Advance booking required via our customer service, no later than one day before travel. Check the time table and price from Oravi sales service. Getting to Oravi by Car From the South (Helsinki / Mikkeli): Take highway E75 / Lahti motorway to Lahti, which becomes route 5. Continue through Mikkeli toward Juva. At Juva, turn onto route 14 (Juva–Savonlinna). Drive through Savonlinna and turn onto route 471 (Enonkoskentie) near Prisma. After 5 km, turn left onto Juvolantie 468. Drive ~23 km, then turn left onto Tappuvirrantie. After ~9 km, turn right onto Kiramontie. From the North (Joensuu): Take road 17 toward Kuopio for ~11 km, turn left onto Liperintie 476, drive ~48 km. Turn left onto Pölläkäntie 471, continue ~38 km. Turn right onto Laasalantie, drive ~12 km, then turn onto Tappuvirrantie. After ~9 km, turn right onto Kiramontie. From the West (Varkaus): Take route 23 (Taipaleentie) ~10 km toward Heinävesi. Turn right onto Rauhamäentie 468. Drive ~50 km, then turn left onto Kiramontie. Note: A ferry crossing (operating 24/7) is along this route. The ferry is free of charge. The ferry has 4 short breaks during the day, more info here: Tappuvirta ferry From the East (Lappeenranta): Take route 6 toward Imatra, drive ~100 km, then turn onto route 14 (Savonlinnantie). Drive ~50 km, then turn right onto Enonkoskentie 471. After 5 km, turn onto Juvolantie 468, drive ~23 km, turn left onto Tappuvirrantie. After ~9 km, turn right onto Kiramontie. From Savonlinna: Head toward Enonkoski. Near Prisma, turn onto Enonkoskentie 471. Drive 5 km, turn onto Juvolantie 468. Continue ~23 km, turn left onto Tappuvirrantie, then after ~9 km, turn right onto Kiramontie.

  • Fisheries Regulation 1 § 1: Lake salmon with fat-cut (rel) is prohibited from 1.6-31.8 on the main migration route.

    Economic Development Centres decision on restricting fishing (1.6 - 31.8)

    Government Decree 1360/2015 on fishing (the so-called Fishing Decree), Article 1, stipulates that fat-finned lake salmon is completely prohibited in the Vuoksi water body and fat-finned (rel) lake salmon is also prohibited on the migration route between 1.6 and 31.8. In the fishing restriction service, this restriction area under the Regulation is indicated for the time being as a fishing restriction decision by the ELY.
  • Fishing Regulation Article 14: fishing with a hook and line set near the surface or in intermediate water by means of floats is prohibited.

    Economic Development Centres decision on restricting fishing (1.1 - 31.12)

    Government Decree 1360/2015 on fishing (the so-called Fishing Decree), Article 14, stipulates that fishing with a hook and line set near the surface or in the intermediate water using floats is prohibited in the Vuoksi and Kuolimo watercourses. This restriction area under the Regulation is currently indicated in the fishing restriction service as a fishing restriction decision of the ELY.
  • Prohibited fishing gear in key habitats of the Saimaa ringed seal

    Protection of Saimaa ringed seal (1.1 - 31.12)

    The following fishing gear and fishing methods may not be used in the key habitats of the Saimaa ringed seal: 1) longlines; 2) other hook-and-line gear using fish or fish pieces as bait; 3) trammel nets; 4) nets with a line made of vertical bars lowered from other than the ends of the line; 5) nets with a line made of multiple strands or fibres; 6) nets or sets of interconnected nets that are not anchored at both ends during open water; (7) any net of mesh size less than 60 mm with a codline of single twine of 0,17 mm or more in thickness; (8) any net of mesh size equal to or greater than 60 mm with a codline of single twine of 0,20 mm or more in thickness; 9) a closed-top trap; 10) an open-top trap and any other static gear similar to a trap with a knot spacing of more than 55 mm; 11) a catfish or sea otter trap with a cod-end of more than 150 mm in width or length. The restrictions do not apply to angling, spinning, casting or trolling, even if carried out with bait. The prohibition shall not apply to a closed-end trap with a knot spacing of less than 55 millimetres and which, when spread or fitted with bars in the throat, does not under any circumstances create an opening of more than 150 millimetres. In addition, if the above trap is equipped with a covered front window, each corner of the front window shall have at least one exit opening 70 cm wide to allow the red seals to escape from the trap.

  • The use of trammel nets from the surface to a depth of 3 m is prohibited in the vicinity of the deep waterway, Heinävedenreit Fishery Management Area

    Economic Development Centres decision on restricting fishing (1.6 - 15.7)

    The use of gillnets with a knot size of less than 22 mm from the surface to a depth of 3 m is prohibited on the main route of migratory juveniles of lake salmon, on both sides of the shipping channel from 1 June to 15 July, see other restrictions in force. Decision 14.2.2024 POSELY/618/2023. https://heinavedenreitinkta.fi/ In addition, account must be taken, inter alia, of the restrictions imposed to protect the Saimaa ringed seal. For example, until 15 April 2026, there is a ban on nets from 15 April to 30 June and a ban on gillnets under 22 mm from 15 April to 20 June.

    Oily trout and lake salmon are protected all year round. In addition, fat-finned lake trout are restricted on the summer, July and August migration routes. For recreational fishing, the daily quota for fat-finned lake trout in the Vuoksi water body is 1 per fisherman (Government Decree on Fishing 1360/2015).
