    In the area marked on the map of the Höytiääinen, in the central and southern parts of the Höytiääinen, the autumn closed season for salmonids when fishing with nets: in waters less than 10 m deep, from 1 September until the arrival of ice, the minimum permitted knot size of the net is 80 mm. However, from 15 October to 31 December, fishing for whitefish and vendace is authorised with nets with a mesh size of 30 mm or less.     When fishing under ice on floating rockfish, the minimum permitted knot spacing is 55 mm. During the open season, in waters of ten (10) metres and over, the minimum permitted knot spacing of the net shall be 55 mm. The minimum permitted knot size for sparse nets used in the high and intermediate water fisheries shall be 80 mm. These restrictions do not apply to gillnets.   • River Juuanjoki, rapids and river basin

    Rapids and currents for migratory fish (1.1 - 31.12)

    General fishing rights (KalL § 7; angling, angling and lure fishing based on a fishing fee or age) are prohibited in the rapids and river basins of the Lower Juuan and Juuan rivers, i.e. in the riverbeds between Juuanjärvi-Alajärvi, Alajärvi-Autiojärvi, Autiojärvi-Juuanjärvi Kirkkosiltae. However, fishing is possible with the permission of the owner of the water body, unless fishing is restricted under another provision. General fishing rights are valid on the Juuanjoki River downstream of the Kirkkosilta bridge until Pielise.     Government Decree 1360/2015 on fishing (the so-called Fishing Decree), Article 1, stipulates that fat-finned lake salmon is completely prohibited in the Vuoksi water body and fat-finned (rel) lake salmon is also prohibited on the migration route between 1.6 and 31.8.     In the Pielisen-Karelia fishing area, a maximum of one (1) fat-finned trout may be caught per fisherman per day. The catch quota is valid in migratory fish waters according to Section 64 of the Fisheries Act (379/2015) and Section 11 of the Fisheries Decree (1360/2015), which are, in addition to the water areas referred to in Section 64(1) of the Fisheries Act, constructed river and stream water bodies where migratory fish occur. However, the catch quota does not apply to trout caught in a stream, pond or lake without migratory access, in accordance with Article 1 of the Fisheries Regulation. The catch quota for fat-cut trout applies to all types of fishing and fishing methods, fishing with the permission of the owner of the water area or the fishing zone and also fishing under public fishing rights.     Economic Development Centres decision on restricting fishing (15.8 - 31.10)

    Fishing is prohibited on the Pielis River from the Kuurna and Laurinvirra power plants to the mouth of the river up to the Kalmoniemi tip-Voiluoto line along the banks from 1 August until the end of 31 October (so-called autumn closure). The Pielisjokisu fishway on the Pyhäselkä is included in the closed area up to the banks. The prohibition does not apply to crayfishing, catfishing or shore-based angling and spearing as defined in Article 4 of the Fisheries Act. Fishing for fatty-fleshed lake salmon and fatty-fleshed trout is permitted from 1 November, by way of derogation from the closure period laid down in the Fisheries Regulation. Netting is also permitted in the river basin from 1 November, in derogation from the closed period (15 August to 30 November) under Article 12 of the Fisheries Regulation, inter alia, in accordance with the decisions of the owners of the water area. Fishing is also restricted in the areas of the Kuurna and Laurinvirra power stations and in the rapids and streams of the Pielis River throughout the year. In addition, fishing in the Pielisjokisu fishway is prohibited all year round with static gear (e.g. nets, traps, lines), although catfish and crab pots are allowed.
