    Fishing on the floating lake is permitted with a maximum of ten (10) rods and lures per boat at any one time. This restriction applies to fishing under a general fishing right based on age or a fishing management fee in accordance with Article 7 of the Fisheries Act and fishing with the permission of the owner of the water area or the fishing district. In practice, this means that where several people are on the same boat, some of whom are fishing under a licence from the owner of the water area/fishery management area and others under a general fishing right, the number of rods and fins used simultaneously by a group of boats is limited to a maximum of ten in any case.     In the lower part of the Lieksanjoki, in the area between Lake Pankajärvi and Lake Pielinen, net fishing is prohibited all year round, with the exception of the few nets mentioned below. Riikolanlampi and the eastern part of Pyörtee on the railway line are not included in the closed area. The upper boundary of the closed area is the Ahvenselkä and Niskanselkä, the lower boundary runs from the Lieksan town lake to the eastern northern tip of Timitranniemi (Piiskuupetäjä). However, in the area between the Lieksankoski power plant's regulating dam and the Pankakoski power plant, nets with a mesh size of 55 mm or less are permitted throughout the year, except during the closed season in accordance with Article 12 of the Fisheries Regulation. The prohibition also applies to free fishing (angling, spearfishing and lure fishing) under general fishing rights. However, shore angling and jig fishing from the shore or from an anchored boat will be allowed from 20 May. The lower limit of the closed area is the line from the tip of Aataminniemi - Törösaari (so-called Törönkari) - Lehtosaari - Kevätniemi saha beach on Pielisse.The ban does not apply to fishing with a catisk with the permission of the owner of the water area.     By decision of the ELY Centre, the minimum permitted knot spacing in the Lieksanjoki off the Lieksanjoki River on the Pielisi and in the main Lieksanjoki River bed, including pond and lake basins up to the upper part of Lake Neitijärvi, is 55 mm from the start of the ice until the end of June. Off the Lieksanjoki River on the Pielisee, the restricted area is the water area within the boundary Aataminniemi-Ikolanniemi-Sarkkilanranta-Papinkallio (Kinahmo)-Western shore of Kinahmonsaari-Kinahmonsaari-Northwestern tip of Kinahmonsaari-Heponiemi-Koukkuniemi-Lehtosaari-Sahanranta. This area delimitation has been amended and extended by the ELY Centre's decision POSELY/1079/2025, 25.8.2025, and the restriction has been changed so that in the spring period 20.4-30.6, the minimum permitted knot spacing of the net is 55 mm, with effect from 1.1.2026. There is also a year-round ban on netting in the lower Lieksan River by separate decision, in the section of the river below the dam of the Lieksan River power plant and in the area above the Pankakoski power plant in the Ahvenselkä and Niskanselkä estuaries and, for nets smaller than 55 mm, also in the area between the power plants.     Fishing is prohibited on the Pielis River from the Kuurna and Laurinvirra power plants to the mouth of the river up to the Kalmoniemi tip-Voiluoto line along the banks from 1 August until the end of 31 October (so-called autumn closure). The Pielisjokisu fishway on the Pyhäselkä is included in the closed area up to the banks. The prohibition does not apply to crayfishing, catfishing or shore-based angling and spearing as defined in Article 4 of the Fisheries Act. Fishing for fatty-fleshed lake salmon and fatty-fleshed trout is permitted from 1 November, by way of derogation from the closure period laid down in the Fisheries Regulation. Netting is also permitted in the river basin from 1 November, in derogation from the closed period (15 August to 30 November) under Article 12 of the Fisheries Regulation, inter alia, in accordance with the decisions of the owners of the water area.     Economic Development Centres decision on restricting fishing (1.1 - 31.12)

    The minimum permitted mesh size is 55 mm (irrespective of the depth of the water area) for under-ice fishing, 55 mm for open water fishing in waters of five (5) metres and deeper, and 80 mm for surface and intermediate fishing.
