We offer a wide range of guided and self-guided fishing holidays to different types of water areas and catch, from day trips to multi-day programs, year-round. This ice-fishing tour is tailored for families with children. This ice-fishing trip includes pick-up from max 10 km from Utsjoki village, snowmobile-sleighride or snowshoeing to a wilderness lake max 5 km from the village, local fishing guide (with experience with working with children), fishing permits, helmets, winter clothing, winter boots, ice-fishing equipment and bates, wilderness lunch and hot drinks. The tour price is for a family with 2 adults and 2 children, and more guests can be added for additional cost. The tour is usually about 2-3 hours in duration. The tour is a private tour for your family, so we can modify the tour according to your family´s needs. On this ice-fishing tour, we aim to catch arctic char, trout or perch. Ice-fishing is very easy, so even the smallest children can have a try. (Local children usually start to learn ice-fishing at the age of 2 years, and before that they either sleep in a warm fjellpulken or focus in eating snacks on ice-fishing trips.) We will have an open fire on the tour and grill sausages and maybe marshmallows with gingerbread and hot chocolate. During the tour, we admire the beautiful nature around us, learn how to fish sustainably and sometimes we might even meet some freely grazing reindeer on the way to the lake! Our guides are locals with excellent knowledge on sustainable travel, reindeer herding and fishing, so you can be sure your travel is respectful for the nature and for local culture. For family tours, we have guides who have experience with working with children. Our recommendation for family ice-fishing is March and April, when the highlands are still covered in snow, but temperatures are much more comfortable than in mid-winter. Ice-fishing is also possible in other winter months in December, January and February, as we have very good winter clothing for children and can modify the tour according to weather conditions.
