Learn more about this activity

Arctic waters have a unique catch! Fish in the famous, preeminent Teno River Valley with local guides. We offer a wide range of guided and self-guided fishing holidays to different types of water areas and catch, from day trips to multi-day programs, year-round.

This ice-fishing full day trip includes pick-up from max 10 km from Utsjoki village, snowmobile-sleighride to a wilderness lake, local fishing guide for full day, license to enter the wilderness area and fishing permits, helmets, winter clothing, winter boots, ice-fishing equipment and bates, wilderness lunch and hot drinks. The tour price is for 2 guests, and more guests up to 6 can be added for additional cost of 117 euros/person. The tour is usually about 6 hours in duration.

On this ice-fishing tour, we aim to catch Arctic Char, but we can also aim for pike, perch or trout. Your reward is not only the catch, but the silent landscapes of the mesmerizing arctic highlands. The region of Utsjoki is truly unique, as most land area is protected nature reserve and indigenous reindeer herding land. On an ice-fishing tour, you are likely to meet reindeer, willow ptarmigan, fox and other arctic birds and wildlife. Your guides are locals with excellent knowledge on sustainable travel, reindeer herding and fishing, so you can be sure your travel is respectful for the nature and for local culture.

The best season for ice-fishing is March and April, when the highlands are still covered in snow, but temperatures are much more comfortable than in mid-winter. How ever, if you are really into the "big catch", then you might want to consider booking an ice-fishing holiday already in January.

If you are traveling with small children, we recommend to travel in March or April and to book our family ice-fishing tour.
