Fishing on Nature’s Terms Fishing has been a part of my life since childhood. I started fishing with a simple worm and hook at the age of five, and during my teenage years, my interest shifted to fly fishing. I spent a lot of time by rivers and rapids, fishing with both flies and lures. Later on, trolling captured my interest, and I pursued it passionately for nearly 20 years. In recent years, I’ve transitioned to casting on lakes and rivers, which has brought a new level of variety and excitement to my fishing life. With changing fishing trends, modern fishing electronics have also become part of my guiding activities. While I deeply value the more traditional "old school" style of fishing where electronics play a minimal role, I use modern tools in a way that ensures every customer—regardless of their skill level—gets the best possible experience. The professional fishing guide qualification I completed in 2020 ensures that I can offer not just memorable moments, but also safe and professional fishing experiences. Nowadays, I also train new fishing guides in areas such as fishing techniques and boat handling. My customers have come from all over Finland and around the world—from my hometown all the way to Africa. I’ve guided families, groups of friends, and corporate wellness groups alike. My goal is to provide each client with moments that stay with them—whether it’s their first time fishing or a dream trip for a seasoned angler. One of the most memorable experiences in my guiding career happened when a French client came for a week of fishing. The conditions were challenging, with both tough weather and passive fish. On the second-to-last day, the wind was so strong in the morning that we had to change our original plan to fish for pike—the chosen spot was practically unfishable. We ended up in an alternative area where the wind was more manageable, but the fish remained inactive. It was a tough day, but we didn’t give up. After lunch, the wind began to calm, and we finally made it to our planned area. In the end, persistence paid off—the client caught several pike, and the day ended on a high note. This experience sums up what Sisu Fishing and my personal philosophy are all about: With Sisu, you get through it. Fishing is not just about the catch—it’s about enjoying the peace of nature, doing something together, and taking a break from everyday life.
