Vääräkorva Riverside Lodge offers the perfect place to slow down in the heart of nature and enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the Finnish countryside. By the river, you can refresh yourself with a swim or try your luck fishing straight from the shore with a rod or fly – or set out on a fishing trip across the flowing waters. In the yard, guests will find a cozy kota hut and a fire shelter, both available for your use. During summer, you can also book the traditional wood-heated riverside sauna, while the cabin itself has an electric sauna for relaxing moments.

The lodge is set in the midst of beautiful rural landscapes, right next to Kurttila farm. Guests are welcome to meet the farm’s suckler cows and horses – an unforgettable experience, especially for children. Thanks to the peaceful location, nature’s own visitors such as birds and hares often appear in the yard, adding to the charm of the place for families, nature photographers and fishing enthusiasts alike.

Sustainability is close to our heart: the cabin is powered by the farm’s own solar panels, making your holiday both relaxing and environmentally friendly. Vääräkorva combines the beauty of the Oulujoki River, the charm of Finnish countryside life and the best of finnish cottage traditions – offering guests a memorable holiday experience.

River Oulujoki and Lake Oulujärvi are ideal for both guided fishing excursions and independent fishing, whether from the shore or a rowing boat. If you wish, you can rent an outboard motor for the rowing boat. In local tradition, trolling is especially popular, and on a good day, it’s not uncommon to encounter pike measuring over one meter in length. Spinning (cast fishing) is also a great option for exploring the lake’s diverse waters. If needed, you can inquire about equipment rental - so there’s no need to bring your own gear unless you prefer to.

Lake Oulujärvi offers a unique and diverse water experience in the heart of Finnish nature. Its vast open waters, peaceful surroundings and islands make it an exceptional destination for both relaxation and fishing. Here, you can truly enjoy a sense of freedom, as the lake is so vast that you will probably see only a few boats - if any - throughout the day. Lake Oulujärvi is well known for its abundant fish stocks and many of our guests have told our guide that they haven’t caught as much fish in years as they did during a single day of trolling with him. We highly recommend including at least one day with a local fishing guide during your stay. A guide can provide valuable insights and tips tailored to your preferences, helping you make the most of your independent fishing days. Once we know what kind of fishing you enjoy the most, we can ensure you have the best possible experience on the water. Tell us your wishes, and we will help you create your perfect lake experience.

Required Licenses

  • Fishing permit. The price depends on the duration. For example, a fishing permit for Lake Oulujärvi for one week costs 30 €/person, and we can assist you with purchasing the permit.

Water Introduction by Host

The host will introduce you to the water and the best fishing spots.

Cabin is located on shore of Oulujoki. Lake Oulujärvi is also only 20 minutes drive from cabin. Oulujärvi is vast lake - on its two large open waters, you can’t even see the opposite shore.
